A Vegan Wedding in Graz
Vegan wedding food does not mean only salad and fries for your guests to munch on. In fact, they’ll be surprised to see and taste how amazing vegan food can be!
This post is not only a personal one but also doubles as a guide to help you organize your own vegan and sustainable feast.
You can read up on how we found out beautiful location and its amazing vegan cuisine in my A Vegan Wedding In Vienna post.
Shortly after meeting with their event planner, Europahaus sent us a variety of options to choose from for our wedding wedding food.
Fingerfood
After the ceremony, we served some appetizers to go with the Mediterranean theme such as
- Sandwiches with different toppings
- Olives
- Bruschetta
- Fruit
For the picky eaters (kids) we also served some fries and popsicles to tackle the sweltering heat.
The Vegan Wedding Cake
While cake testing was my favorite part of planning a wedding, our wedding cake was the one thing my husband and I could not agree on.
We had a tasting at two different bakeries:
Nom Nom Vegan Bakery and Zuckero.
I wanted to go with Nom Nom, my husband wanted Zuckero.
In the end, we went with Zuckero and were super happy.
We had a very classic for-tiered wedding cake covered in white vegan buttercream.
The flavors we chose were:
- Chocolate Cake with Chocolate-Caramel Ganache
- Coconut Cake with Strawberry Cream
- Poppy Seed Cake with Lemon Cream Cheeze
- Vanilla Cake with Marzipan Cream
We also ordered some ice cream to go with the apricot strudel for dessert.
The Vegan Wedding Dinner
The 4- course dinner was served as a buffet in the Orangerie. To keep up with the Mediterranean theme, we requested some changes to the vegan wedding menu Europahaus suggested.
As one of the salads, we wanted Panzanella (click for my own recipe) and as a soup, we asked for Gazpacho, since we knew it was going to be too hot for any other type of soup.
Here’s what we served for our vegan wedding food:
Starter
Panzanella
Antipasti & Olives
Vegetable Aspic
Soup
Gazpacho
Main Dish
Coconut-Vegetable Curry with Rice
Grilled Tomato, Zucchini and Eggplant filled with Cous Cous and Tofu
Spinach Lasagna with baked Tomato
Mushroom Creme Sauce with Bread Dumplings
Dessert
Fruit Salad
Apricot Strudel with Marzipan
Ice Cream
Chocolate Fountain
Wine
Europahaus was very helpful in helping us find vegan wines. They sent us a list of all organic, vegan, and even low histamine wine options they could order for us.
We chose Hareter wines.
The Wedding Favors
Our wedding favors for our wedding in Vienna were, like the ones for our wedding in Graz, by Jam session.
A Styrian company that uses discarded and ugly fruit and veggies and turns them into beautiful jams, chutneys, and other preserves.
We went with vegan bergamot honey because it perfectly resonated with our Mediterranean wedding theme while providing an exquisite vegan alternative to bee honey.
The jars were decorated with a piece of leftover fabric from our living room curtains and a laser cut and engraved wooden plaque with our wedding emblem on it.
I hope with this post I could convince you that vegan wedding food doesn’t have to be boring and can actually be an amazing way to not only reduce your wedding’s carbon footprint but impress your non-vegan guests!
