Hello, I’m Mitzi.
That’s short for Marie Therese.
When my bigger sister chose to name me after a french aristocrat, she may have set the stage for my expensive taste.
Even as a child, I always opted for the prettiest option, if given a choice.
I loved wearing poufy dresses, but I also loved animals and the environment.
I distinctly remember the afternoons I spent picking up trash in the woods around our house in the Austrian mountains.
Or how my sister and I protested against the slaughterhouse across the street from my father’s office, utilizing my blood to write the banners after I’d scraped my knee riding my bike in the office parking lot.
After going to art (high) school and meeting other revolutionaries, I chose to stop eating meat. It shocked my traditional grandmother but delighted my hippie mother and it’s been 16 years. I’ve never looked back.
Instead, I would later take the next step and go vegan.
And then even Zero Waste for a while.
Pretty dresses and activism.
Both are possible. I’m a snob, in that I love to be surrounded by beautiful things, culture, art, fashion, architecture, history.
But I’m also full of compassion.
I believe in being kind and compassionate towards all human and non-human animals alike.
I believe in doing what we can to save our planet.
I believe we can do all of that while living a beautiful life, that brings us joy.
This blog is meant to be a place for me to share my thoughts and ideas, an outlet for my creativity.
I hope to inspire you to bring some kindness into your life and to show you,
that you can be a Compassionate Snob.
